How to move in

From first call to move-in day, it's a simple process. Here's exactly what happens, so nothing comes as a surprise.

How it works

Moving in, in four steps

  1. Step 1: Call for availability

Call (619) 709-9232 or send a message. We'll ask where you are in recovery and tell you which homes have an open bed.

  2. Step 2: Tour a home

Come see the house and meet the manager. Bring a family member if you'd like. Ask anything.

  3. Step 3: Review the house agreement

We walk through the rules, expectations and costs together, so you know exactly what you're signing up for.

  4. Step 4: Move in

Choose a move-in day, bring your things and start the routine with people who've been where you are.

Is it a fit?

You're ready for sober living if…

  • You're sober now

You need to arrive sober. If you still need detox or treatment, start there; we can talk about a bed for afterwards.

  • You want to work a program

Residents take part in a 12-step program and work with a sponsor.

  • You're ready for structure

Curfew, chores, random testing and house rules are part of the deal, for everyone.

  • You have a plan for your days

Work, school, volunteering or an active job search. We'll help with the search.

How our sober living works

Cost

Call for current rates.

Sober living is usually paid privately. Health insurance generally covers treatment, not rent at a sober living home. We'll go over every cost before you move in.

What to bring

  • Photo ID
  • Clothes for a few weeks and comfortable shoes
  • Toiletries
  • Prescribed medications in their original containers
  • Phone and charger

Questions

Questions about moving in

Not necessarily, but you do need to be sober when you arrive. If you're still drinking or using, or could have a dangerous withdrawal, start with detox or treatment first. Call us and we'll talk through where you are and point you to the right next step.

Yes, and we encourage it. Getting back to work, school or volunteering is part of building a routine, and our team helps residents with practical steps like finding a job and good local meetings.
